December 2007

Another year is ending with lots of memorable moments in the wireless world. From the iPhone and all its hype, Google anouncing the Android open-source operating system for mobile phones, WiMax selected as a 3G standard, the 700Mhz spectrum aution and the FCC approval of open access, Nokia anouncing the new music store, lots of new cell phones by different cell phone manufacturers, Google’s rumored GPhone to the wide talk of new technologies such as Femtocells, UMA, LTE and WiMax II… the list goes on..

I started this blog back in May to reflect my interest in this field and by watching the number of hits I get daily I can see that others are also enjoying and hopefully gaining something out of it. I know I haven’t been posting much lately (not that I am not following on whats going on) but I hope to start again early next year with new topics and also follow ups on old ones.

Until then.. Happy New Year!

Year by year, cell phones become more smarter and sophisticated. We already use them for taking photos and videos, internet access, payments, GPS, TV, Wi-Fi connections, music players, etc…

A post on Dial-A-Phone blog called 10 mobile phones you’ll want to check out in 2008 lists ten cell phones that have new features and technologies to look out for next year. The lists includes Google’s Android OS (not a cell phone but an operation system for cell phones), the 3G iPhone and Nokia’s WiMax phone.

I wonder what other surprises 2008 will hold for us…
